Articles of Faith Turkey Bowl! Learning and Living the Gospel

You bowl to hit down turkey pins! See what I did there ;)

Instead of the usual 10 pins, you'll need 13... 1 for each Article of Faith. While bowling, if you hit down 6 pins, you pull a "6" question card... if you hit down 2, you pull a "2" question card. Each of the question cards corresponds to its Article of Faith. Each bowler gets 2 turns. If after their second turn the bowler knocks down all the pins, they pull a "spare" question card.

Most of the question cards are fill in the blank. Have each bowler read  the question card (Article of Faith) out loud for everyone to hear. After their turn bowling, have them replace their question card at the bottom of the pile (that way if you go through more than 8, you'll have enough questions with some repeats) and then have them take a turn setting up the pins for the person behind them... creating a rotation. That way the leader can be helping with the question cards.

Prep: About 20 mins to make turkey bowling pins and cut/glue question cards.
Supplies: 13 empty water bottles, ball for bowling (small soccer ball works great)

Thankful Turkeys - Serving Others

Shooting at turkeys just seems oh-so perfect for Thanksgiving. Don't worry, they are just paper turkeys!! I made two different activities here...

The cookie recipe I used is from Six Sister's Stuff. Because their recipes are delicious.

Primaria Días De Actividades Fe En Dios Carpeta

A couple months ago I was trying to decide whether to send my little kindergartner to the school that's super close and on the same schedule as my preschooler, or to fulfill a life-long goal of mine and send my kids to an immersion school. I went to French school until high school and have always wanted my kids to learn a language... French would have been ideal but any language is awesome (and Spanish is the closest immersion school to my home). At first I was told my kindergartner's permit request would be denied and I had come to terms with that not happening, until I got a call saying that I could have the spot, but I had to decide by the end of the day. You guys! That was a pretty BIG decision and I was so torn!

I already had him enrolled in the nearby school with friends and moms I could carpool with. I was super tempted to just say no and leave it... making my life much easier. I called my husband and he said to give it a few hours and pray about it. I said I'm pretty sure he should just stay nearby but I would pray about it and give it 20 minutes - I didn't want to keep the school waiting.

WELL, about 10 minutes after I got off the phone with my husband, I got this message from a reader:

HOLA, LA TIENES DISPONIBLE EN ESPAÑOL?

SALUDOS

Translation: Hello, do you have it available in Spanish?

My jaw dropped. Since I've had this blog, not once have I had someone ask me if I had anything in another language. And since President Monson has said that there is no such thing as coincidences... I couldn't help but be extremely grateful for this answer to my prayer. Fast forward 6-ish months... my kid has been going to the Spanish school and is absolutely loving it!

Oh, and it wasn't available in Spanish- but now it is! (the best I could, anyways)

Seek Learning - Preparing for Young Women

Read D&C 88:77–80, 118 and D&C 130:19. Discuss with a parent or Primary leader how important a good education is and how it can help strengthen your home and family and in the Church.

For this activity, have the youth play hide & seek. While they are playing, they should also be looking for hidden "seek learning cards". Once all 14 cards have been collected, have the youth put the cards in order, along with provided scripture pages with the beginning and end of the scriptures. After talking about how important a good education is, and how it can help strengthen home and family and the church, have the youth fill out the "Seeking Learning" handout and give them the scripture handout.
