This might be my most fun activity yet!! After I did the Gospel Standards Survivor activity with my daughter and her friends, she'd been begging me to do something like that again so I tweaked it here and there and turned it into this Articles of Faith Survivor. The challenges are a bit different but same concept... Everyone is part of the "Nephite Tribe" and everyone competes in the challenges. The tribe member to win the challenge, gets to put together an Article of Faith puzzle.
So before the activity starts, it took me about 30 mins to prep for the activity. I would plan maybe 45 mins just in case. This is all you need, plus a ball, plate and writing utensil for each person.
1. Print the activity with enough written challenges/ Aof F handout for each tribe member
2. Get 1 paper plate, 1 ball (I used a ping pong type ball), and 1 pen per tribe member
3. Cut Article of Faith puzzles and wrap the puzzle holder around the pieces (this was the longest part)
4. Cut name tags and thread into necklace (optional)
5. Wrap challenges into scrolls (this is totally optional.. just made it a little more fun)
Then, once everyone gets to the activity, start the activity by providing everyone with the Articles of Faith Handout, a pen/(cil), ball and paper plate. Then read them the welcome letter and then read the first challenge.
Then start with challenge 1!
This is how the activity went for us.... the kids had a total blast and were super disappointed when it was over (how I like it). I just did it in my home but it would work really well in a church!
Everyone starts with the Articles of Faith Handout, a pen, ball and paper plate.
Let the tribe member that won immunity read the next challenge to the group
We would chant the person's name as they solved the puzzle (just to pump things up) and then we would all read the Article of Faith out loud together. Everyone would fill out their Articles of Faith handout with the missing word
I gave them the written challenges face-down and had them turn it over and start all at the same time.
My four year old joined in on some of the challenges and ended up winning one and was SUPER pumped :)
