Faith In God Award Requirements

The Faith In God Award Requirements sized to fit standard scriptures! This would be great to give new girls as they enter Activity Days or even older girls who need to focus on what the requirements are. You can include this when you give them their Faith In God book and go over the Activity Days program. This is even a good reminder for the leaders!

"The box below is just under 7x5… the same size as scriptures! Cut this out and put in your scriptures, so you can be reminded of what you are working toward each night when you read your scriptures."

Random Activity Days Ideas

Today I was looking for something in my e-mail and I came across this list I made for a planning session. Some of these we used, but not all of them so I thought I would share all these ideas in case they work for you :)

Activity Days Ideas
* A manners activity where we learn to set a table correctly and other etiquette.
* teach them how to plant a flower (starting with a pot, soil, seeds, ect)
* time capsule activity- have them write goals for the next 5-10-15 years. Have them draw pictures where they want to be
* make an apron – one week we can go to the store and let them pick out their fabric (maybe the $1 section at walmart), the next we can sew them.
* Make a necklace with fabric and large wooden beads (I did this with my friends…. It was really easy)
* Father-daughter dinner- we can maybe make spaghetti… something easy the girls can do themselves. We could do this at the church and have the girls come 1 hour before their fathers. We can divide the girls up and give them each a different responsibility like:
o Boil the noodles
o Warm up the sauce
o Make rolls
o Set the table (using their manners and etiquette knowledge)
o Make the dessert
* Homemade personal pizzas with rhodes rolls and pie pan. This is a super easy dinner… casey and I do it all the time. Maybe while the pizzas are in the oven, we can have them watch a church movie.
* For valentines day: have the girls frost and decorate sugar cookies for a few families of their choice in the ward or maybe the bishopric, then drop them off.

Bowling - Developing Talents

The other day I asked my 10 year old niece what her favorite activity has been in her activity days so far. She said without hesitation "BOWLING". She said they did a daddy-daughter bowling activity and she had a ton of fun. I think that's a great idea... or even just going bowling with just the girls and using the down-time between turns to work on memorizing their Articles of Faith :)

Family History, I am doing it! Learning and Living the Gospel

I have had the song "Family History - I Am Doing It" stuck in my head all week! I am taking this as a sign to finally post this family history chart (notice I did not say tree) that I have been meaning to post for a long time now.

One of the activities I did when I was a leader was teaching the girls about the online resources there are to do family history. One of the requirements under Learning and Living the Gospel says "Prepare a pedigree chart with your name and your parents' and grandparents' names. Prepare a family group record for your family and share a family story. Discuss how performing temple work blesses families".

For the activity, we had the girls look up their own family history and write it down, and browse familysearch.org. We had each girl share a family story and we talked about how performing temple work blesses families. It would have been great to have somewhere cute they could write down their family history.

I also want to share that my very talented friend Hayley designed a really great Family Tree that she will customize, print and mail to you! I think it is a PERFECT gift - thoughtful, personal and timeless!

Articles of Faith Tournament - Super fun Primary Activity ready in 20 minutes!

UPDATE!!

I have updated these files and now this activity looks just a bit different, but should be even BETTER!!

OLDER FILES:

A few years ago I did a tournament with the girls and I am finally re-creating it since I hadn't saved what I made. An "Articles of Faith Tournament" is a great way to learn the articles, and a good way for the girls to plan on passing them off with leaders. I made my tournament with six stations:

1. Pass Off (this station is with the leaders)
2.Word Search
3. Flashcards
4. Matching Game
5. Cross Word
6. Quiz

I would have the girls pair off and each start at a different station. Depending on how many girls you have, you may need more than just two girls at one station.  One of the great things about this is that it frees up the leaders to be at one of the stations while the girls are busy with the other stations to have one on one time with the girls for them to pass off memorized articles.

Subway Art for Articles of Faith

It feels like yesterday that I was posting these subway art of Primary song lyrics. I made them as a gift to give the girls on their birthday or when they graduate from Primary. My plan was to print them off and put them in a cute frame. Since they became so popular I decided to also make them using the Articles of Faith. Here are some ideas:

1. They can be used to help the girls memorize the Articles. You can give the girls a copy or hang up the one you are working on at the activity.
2. They can be used as a gift when they get the article memorized. They can be encourage to collect all 13.
3. They can be printed and made into a book that can be given to girls as they enter Activity Days.

I have the PDF version that I'd be happy to e-mail you... I check my activity days email about once every 2 months. (activitydaysforfun@gmail.com). You can also get them instantly HERE.  You can also check out my "subway art 2 color" files HERE

Articles of Faith Booklet Activity

I was playing with my Articles of Faith PowerPoint a little bit and thought of this activity that I hope will help just a few more girls with memorizing their Articles of Faith. My PowerPoint has a few slides for each of the Articles of Faith in which it starts with all the words, then I start taking words away. I adapted my PowerPoint (that was 64 pages) down to just 16, and added a few things so after printing, it can be easily made into a booklet. This is something you could do for the girls, or this could be an activity where the girls make their own. This booklet ends up being just a quarter of a page which is perfect for them to fit in their scriptures and is a great quiet (church time) activity.

1. Print the PDF (1 copy for each girl).
2. Cut along the gray dotted lines
3. Put the pages in the correct order. Notice page numbers on the top right corner.
4. Bind the top. You can do this with staples, hole punch/cute ribbon, or even a ring.
5. Fill in "This book belongs to" page. If the girls are making the booklets, they can sign and decorate it.

Activity Days Scavenger Hunt - Learning and Living the Gospel

Guys- I'm like really excited about this one. It's a scavenger hunt that should work in all (typical) LDS buildings!

You will need:
- Scavenger hunt clues
-A puzzle with 9 pieces for each girl
-Envelopes for the girls to carry their pieces in
-Tape to create envelopes
-Tape for the girls to put the puzzle together

So first you start by creating the nine scavenger hunt clues. I made mine so that when you print them out you can turn them into envelopes that will hold the puzzle pieces. Here they are:

Once the clues are printed, just fold the paper on the dotted lines and then tape the sides so it creates an envelope.

Then you'll need a puzzle with 9 pieces for each girl. Once you have the puzzle cut up, put the all the pieces for one section in one envelope. For example, if you have 12 girls, put all 12 pieces to the top corner piece in the envelope for this clue:

You can really use anything you want as the puzzle, you'll just want to cut it into 9 pieces if you use 9 clues. I made this subway art below to use as the puzzle.  It follows the 2015 Primary theme  "I know My Savior Lives".

Once the girls have all the puzzle pieces together, you can sing the song (especially great if you can time the activity for when they are learning it in primary) . Get lyrics for the whole song here: I know that my Savior loves me.

You can also make an envelope for the girls (with instructions) to keep their puzzle pieces in as they are running about the building. They can decorate their envelope with their name. This would be awesome at the start of the activity to do while they are waiting for everyone to get there.

Then you just need to get to the building just a little before Activity Days starts so you can post the envelopes around the building. Just make sure you don't put a clue in the location of its answer, and you should be good. I think it would be fun to end the scavenger hunt in the kitchen with a yummy treat :).

Dinner Time Conversations

This "Dinner Time Conversations" is a great addition to an etiquette dinner activity. The girls can pull this out at dinner and make good conversation with their families :).

I made this template so you can print out the label and tape around any jar or cup. Then cut the questions and fold them like an accordion.

Label

Mason jar topper

The questions. The girls can come up with one of their own.

I like to put the tape on the inside so it doesn't show

Fancy it up with a ribbon and you're all set :)

Thankful Tree

How better to celebrate Thanksgiving and the season of giving than counting our blessings? I love this thankful tree as an activity for the girls to cut out and pin what they are thankful for, and then hang it up somewhere they can always see it to remember.

This activity is super easy, so you can make this on your own or you can use my template here
